Funmi Shodeko
LMHC, NCC, QS
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, National Certified Counselor, and Qualified Supervisor in the State of Florida. I earned my Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University and have extensive experience working in inpatient, outpatient, and residential treatment settings, as well as within the homeless shelter community.
My therapeutic approach is eclectic, drawing from various modalities such as motivational interviewing, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and solution-focused therapy. This allows me to adapt my methods to meet each client's unique needs. I am passionate about helping young adults, adults, and families, especially those struggling with substance abuse, behavioral health issues, identity crises, and trauma, to find their purpose and lead fulfilling lives.
Being Nigerian by birth and a foreigner at heart, I bring a unique perspective to my work, which is particularly helpful for individuals navigating the complexities of cultural identity and integration. I approach therapy from a non-judgmental stance, ensuring that both clients and their families feel heard and supported as we work towards shared goals.
I am committed to providing a safe and supportive environment where clients can feel comfortable sharing their struggles and triumphs. Whether you're dealing with addiction, family conflict, anxiety, depression, or relationship challenges, my goal is to help you rediscover your inner strength, self-compassion, and a life worth living. Let’s work together on your journey of healing and growth.
